The declaratory statement for the Phoenix townsite was filed at the Prescott Land Office on February 15, 1872, and the official entry was made at the Florence Land Office on November 19, 1873. The total cost of the Phoenix Townsite, which covered 320 acres, was $550, including all expenses for services. This significant event marked the official recognition of Phoenix as a townsite and laid the foundation for its future development.
